Kangana Ranaut - Rajkummar Rao’s Mental Hai Kya title to be tweaked following CBFC request

The title of Kangana Ranaut-Rajkummar Rao’s upcoming film, Mental Hai Kya, will be slightly tweaked following a request from the CBFC. The statutory body has found the title to be 'too harsh'. In April this year, the Indian Psychiatric Society (IPS) had raised objections to the title, deeming it derogatory towards mentally-ill persons. Although the makers had initially defended the title, it looks like they have finally agreed to make the requisite changes.

In a video shared on social media, Kangana is heard saying, “There will be a small change in the title of the film because they (the CBFC) find it a bit too harsh. We are more than happy to do that. Other than that, there are absolutely no cuts. They were thrilled to see the film."

Producers Balaji Motion Pictures will reveal the new title soon. The film has been granted a U/A certificate by the CBFC.

Directed by Prakash Kovelamudi, Mental Hai Kya is a black comedy about two individuals caught between reality and illusions. The film is written by Kanika Dhillon and also stars Amyra Dastur, Jimmy Sheirgill and Mimoh Chakraborty in key roles. The film is scheduled to release on July 26.
