After Delly Belly and Blackmail, filmmaker Abhinav Deo is back with an upcoming sports-drama. Titled Doosra, the docu-fiction film recreates India’s historic win against England in the 2002 Natwest Series. The event is immortalized by captain Sourav Ganguly’s shirtless antics from the balcony of the Lord’s Stadium.

“A film that is very special to me. Doosra - the story of India's iconic 2002 victory as seen through the eyes of a young girl,” Abhinay tweeted, sharing the first-look poster of the film.

The story and screenplay of Doosra is written by Angello Dias. The film stars Plabita Borthakur, Ankur Vikal, Krishna Gokani and Samidha Guru in the lead roles.

In the Natwest series final in 2002, England had created a formidable target of 325 runs in five wickets for India to beat. Despite losing crucial wickets in the initial overs, the Indian side emerged victorious with 326 runs in eight wickets. The event has gone down as one of the greatest One-Day International matches in history.
