The Tamil version of The Lion King just got more interesting.

While earlier we had reported that popular lyricist Madhan Karky will be penning the dialogues, it has now been announced that actor Siddharth will be the voice of Simba, the lead character in the film.

“I can never forget the first time I saw The Lion King on screen, as well as on stage. I had an equally unforgettable experience speaking and singing in Tamil, as Simba, in the new version of this timeless classic. I can’t wait to see my new avatar in the theatres with my audience,” said the actor in a statement.

Directed by Jon Favreau, the film is a live-action retelling of one of the most loved stories from the Disney stable. Notably, Shah Rukh Khan and his son Aryan are voicing the characters Mufasa and Simba, respectively, in Hindi. The film will hit the screens on July 19.

Meanwhile, Siddharth, who was last seen in the Netflix series Leila, has several other projects in the offing. He has Aruvam, Sivappu Manjal Pachai. and Shaitan Ka Bachcha in different stages of production in Tamil, and will also be seen in the Bollywood film, Chhichhore
