Kareena Kapoor Khan will star opposite Aamir Khan in Laal Singh Chadha, the makers confirmed today. Directed by Advait Chandan, the film is an official remake of Robert Zemeckis’ 1994 film, Forrest Gump, starring Tom Hanks and Robin Wright.

Kareena and Aamir have previously worked together in 3 Idiots and Talaash. The former, who is presently shooting for Angrezi Medium in London, recently gave her nod to Laal Singh Chadha.

Based on Winston Groom’s 1986 novel, Forrest Gump told the story of an Alabama youth whose life journey intersects with major events in 20th century America. The film was awarded six Oscars, including Best Picture, Best Actor in a Lead Role, and Best Director.

According to earlier statements, the Hindi remake will have Aamir portraying a Sikh man for a certain portion of the film. The project is expected to go on floors in October this year and get a release in 2020.

Aamir Khan’s last release was Thugs of Hindostan, while Kareena was last seen in Veere Di Wedding. Kareena’s upcoming projects include Good News and Takht.
