Director Harish Shankar has revealed the release date of his upcoming film, Valmiki. A remake of director Karthik Subburaj’s critically acclaimed Tamil gangster comedy, Jigarthanda, the Telugu version features an ensemble cast comprising Varun Tej, Pooja Hegde, Mirnalini Ravi, and Atharvaa Murali in the lead roles. In a surprise move, Harish announced the film's release date on Twitter.

Valmiki charts the story of an aspiring director, who is determined to make a gangster film. His attempts to follow and research a gangster turns futile after he discovers a mole in the gang. How he comes out of the fiasco is the crux of the film.

The makers have recently completed a short schedule in Singapore and will begin the new schedule soon. Ace Bollywood cinematographer  Ayananka Bose is handling the camera, while Mickey J Meyer is on board as the music composer of Valmiki.

Harish Shankar’s last release, DJ (Duvvada Jagannadham), was a huge success at the box office and proved to be a major hit in his career.
