Deepika Padukone has wrapped up her upcoming film Chhapaak. Directed by Meghna Gulzar, the film is based on the life of activist and acid attack survivor, Laxmi Agarwal. Sharing a picture with the cast and crew, Deepika described the project as ‘the most precious film’ of her career.

Laxmi Agarwal was 15 years old when she was attacked for rejecting an older man’s advances. Following her recovery, she campaigned for stringent laws on acid sale in India and founded the non-profit Chhav Foundation.

Chhapaak went on floors in Delhi early this year and is scheduled for release on January 10, 2020. Vikrant Massey, who was last seen in web shows Made in Heaven and Criminal Justice, plays the male lead in the film. Deepika Padukone's last appearance was in Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s Padmaavat. Chhapaak marks her first production venture under her banner KA Entertainment. Meghna Gulzar is known for directing the critically-acclaimed films, Talvar and Raazi.
