Dhanush's Pattas, directed by Durai Senthilkumar is reportedly based on a martial art form that existed before Kalari. The Asuran actor and Sneha have reportedly undergone a 20-day special training for their roles in the film.

Similar to Dhanush and Durai Senthilkumar's previous film, Kodi, the actor will be seen playing dual roles in Pattas. Interestingly, he will be seen playing the roles of a father and son for the first time and the film has been titled based on the dynamic nature of the son's character. Apart from Sneha, the film has Mehreen Pirzada playing the other female lead.

The film is bankrolled by Sathya Jyothi Films, who are also producing another film directed by Ratsasan-fame Ramkumar, starring Dhanush in the lead.
