In one of the most surprising announcements in recent times, director Vetrimaaran is all set to direct a comedy film with Soori in the lead. The Madurai-based film, produced by Elred Kumar of RS Infotainment, is expected to begin after Vetrimaaran is done with the Dhanush-starrer Asuran. 

Producer Elred Kumar, has produced films like Vinnaithaandi Varuvaayaa​, Ko, Neethane En Ponvasantham and Yaamirukka Bayamaen on behalf of R S Infotainment. This will be the first time he will be collaborating with the National Award-winning director.

With this film, Soori joins the ever growing list of comedians turning hero. While the actor has previously played a pivotal role in Oru Oorla Rendu Raja and Gemini Ganeshanum Suruli Raajanum, alongside Vimal and Atharvaa, respectively, this will be his first full fledged hero role. The actor currently is a part of Kathir's Sarbath, Vijay Sethupathis's Sanga Tamizhan, the as-yet-untitled Pandiraj-Sivakarthikeyan film.
