Vijay Deverakonda's upcoming sports drama, Hero, has been shelved indefinitely by the film's production house, Mythri Movie Makers. A multilingual in Telugu, Tamil, Malayalam, and Kannada, the film directed by Anand Annamalai also stars Shalini Pandey and Malavika Mohanan.

The first schedule of the film, which features Vijay as a professional biker, commenced in May in New Delhi and the team had completed 20 per cent of the film before it was stalled. "The production house was not pleased with the output and could not arrive at a conclusion with the director on how to take it forward from here. Hence, they have decided to drop the film, despite spending Rs 15 crore on its making so far," informs a source.

Meanwhile, Vijay, who is awaiting the release of Dear Comrade on Friday, will next be seen in an untitled romantic anthology, directed by Kranthi Madhav. Also featuring Raashi Khanna, Catherine Tresa, and Aishwarya Rajesh in the lead, a major schedule of the film was recently completed in France.
