Marvel's Phase 4 will see Benedict Cumberbatch return as the Sorcerer Supreme in Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness. Marvel Studios, in the San Diego Comic-Con, announced that the Scott Derrickson directed film will hit the screens on May 7, 2021.

The second standalone film of the Doctor Strange franchise will also star Elizabeth Olsen as Scarlet Witch. The director, in the Comic-Con panel, said that Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness will play up "the gothic and horror" seen in the original comics, and will be the "first scary movie of the Marvel Cinematic Universe."

Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige announced at Comic-Con that the Scarlet Witch's appearance in Disney's WandaVision will facilitate her presence in the Doctor Strange film.
