Gautham Menon, one of the passionate filmmakers in Tamil cinema, has been missing in action after his Achcham Yenbadhu Madamaiyada, starring STR.

Two of his ambitious projects, Ennai Nokki Paayum Thotta and Dhruva Natchathiram, have been on the back burner for quite some time now, because of financial issues. His other production ventures, Nenjam Marapathillai, directed by Selvaraghavan, and Naragasooran directed by Karthik Naren, are also yet to see the light of day.

Now, our sources indicate that Gautham has given his nod to direct a new film, to be produced by Isari Ganesh's Vels Films International. The film is said to star the producer's nephew, Varun, as the male lead. Varun was recently seen in a cameo appearance in Vels Films International's last project, LKG.

An official announcement regarding the cast and the crew is expected soon.

Interestingly,  the South Indian Film Financiers’ Association (SIFFA) had recently taken a call to stop financing Gautham’s films until he releases his pending projects and pays his dues. The filmmaker is reportedly planning to get a NOC from the association, before beginning the project.

Meanwhile, Ennai Nokki Paayum Thotta, starring Dhanush and Megha Akash, is expected to get a release in the first week of August.  As for his web-series, Queen, the biopic of late Tamil Nadu Chief Minister, Miss J Jayalalithaa, the shoot has been wrapped up, and the makers are reportedly planning to release the Ramya Krishnan-starrer in August.
