The shoot for Seenu Ramaswamy's Maamanithan, starring Vijay Sethupathi, was completed in February, and after that, there were no updates about the film from the makers. The director has now said that the post-production work for the film, is in full swing and the release is being planned in September.

Maamanithan also has Gayathrie playing the female lead, while Guru Somasundran and Anikha of Viswasam fame appear in crucial roles.

Yuvan Shankar Raja's second production venture after last year's Pyaar Prema Kaadhal, Maamanithan also marks the first time the Peranbu composer has joined hands with his father Ilaiyaraaja to compose for the film.
