Spider-Man: Far From Home registers Rs 10.05 crore on its opening day in India

Despite opening on a week day, the film has seen tremendous success at the box office

Tom Holland's Spider-Man: Far From Home has registered a business of Rs 10.05 crore on its opening day in India. The film was released on Thursday. 

According to the film's publicist, despite opening on a non-holiday, Spider-Man: Far From Home collected Rs 12.10 crore gross (Net: Rs 10.05 crore). The Jon Watts-directorial was released by Sony Pictures Entertainment India in English, Hindi, Tamil and Telugu.

"Hollywood continues to consolidate its presence in India. Spider-Man: Far From Home casts its web at the box office. Embarks on a flying start. It opens in double digits and is the biggest Indian opener in the Spider-Man franchise," trade expert Taran Adarsh tweeted.

Spider-Man: Far From Home is set following the events of Avengers: Endgame. Peter Parker aka Spider-Man finds himself in a world without his mentor Tony Stark aka Iron Man, where crime is still rampant. Peter teams up with a new superhero Mysterio, played by Jake Gyllenhaal to save the day and the world.

The film also stars Zendaya, Cobie Smulders and Jon Favreau, among others.
