Sandeep Reddy Vanga’s Kabir Singh has crossed the 200-crore mark at the box office. Released on June 21, the film stars Shahid Kapoor and Kiara Advani in the lead roles. The romantic drama is a remake of Sandeep’s 2017 Telugu hit, Arjun Reddy.

The film earned Rs. 7. 53 crore on Wednesday (Day 13), bringing its total India collection to Rs. 206. 48 crore. Despite scathing reviews and allegations of endorsing misogyny, Kabir Singh has emerged as the third highest grossing Hindi film of 2019 so far. The film is likely to overtake the lifetime collection of Salman Khan’s Bharat and Vicky Kaushal’s Uri: The Surgical Strike in the coming days.

Kabir Singh is Shahid Kapoor’s highest-grossing solo release as well as the first A-certified film to cross the 200-crore mark in India. It’s also the fastest-growing Hindi film of this year — Bharat had taken 14 days to cross 200 crores while Uri had clocked it in 28 days.

As per estimates, Kabir Singh is likely to emerge as the highest grossing Hindi film of 2019 by the end of its theatrical run. The film tells the story of an alcoholic surgeon with anger management issues. A Tamil version, titled Adithya Varma and starring Dhruv Vikram, is slated for release later this year.
