Rapper Lizzo is upset with reports of Melissa McCarthy being considered to play sea witch Ursula in Disney's upcoming live-action adaptation of version of 1989's The Little Mermaid.

After the news went viral, Lizzo reacted on Twitter with a teary-eyed emoji. She also re-posted her November video dressed as Ursula and giving a vocal rendition of the song Poor Unfortunate Souls from the original film. She captioned the 45-second video, "I'M URSULA. PERIOD," and tagged Disney.

The animated movie loosely retold the fairy tale by Hans Christian Andersen and told of a mermaid named Ariel who yearns to be human after she falls in love with a prince. She makes a deal with the sea witch Ursula who grants her wish but takes her voice.

Rob Marshall, best known for his directorial, Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides, is helming The Little Mermaid from a script penned by David Magee. The film will incorporate the original songs from the animated classic as well as new tracks from Alan Menken and Lin-Manuel Miranda, who incidentally, is also producing the project.
