Shah Rukh Khan has reportedly dropped out of Mahesh Mathai’s upcoming film, Saare Jahaan Se Accha, a biopic on former Air Force pilot and astronaut Rakesh Sharma. According to online buzz, Khan and the makers have decided to part ways and a younger actor is expected to replace him soon. We are awaiting an official confirmation from SRK’s team.

The role of Rakesh Sharma was initially offered to Aamir Khan, who had turned down the project to focus on his ambitious Mahabharata adaptation. Shah Rukh Khan, who had stepped in to replace Aamir in Saare Jahaan Se Accha, was expected to start shooting for the film in February this year.

Last week, at the trailer launch of Gully Boy, director-producer Farhan Akhtar said that a ‘special announcement’ will be made soon — which many interpreted as a possible hint for Don 3. It is now been speculated that the decision to kickstart Don 3 in 2019 has made Khan opt out of Saare Jahaan Se Accha.
