American actor Danny DeVito has joined the cast of the sequel to the 2017 hit film, Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle.

DeVito will join returning cast members Dwayne Johnson, Kevin Hart, Jack Black and Karen Gillan, in the Jake Kasdan directorial.

Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle traced the story of a group of teens who get transported into the world of Jumanji where they turn into avatars in a video game.  The first Jumanji film, starring Robin Williams, was based on a board game, unlike the new sequel.

The makers have kept the title, plot and details about DeVito's character under wraps. The script of the yet-to-be-titled sequel is penned by Kasdan, Scott Rosenberg and Jeff Pinkner.

DeVito, meanwhile, is awaiting the release of the adventure fantasy film, Dumbo
