With most filmmakers opting for out-of-the-box teasers and trailers to promote their films, director Indrajit Lankesh has decided to take a different route with his upcoming film, Shakeela. The film, starring Richa Chadha, who plays the titular role, also features Pankaj Tripathi in the cast, and the team has chosen to release a calendar as promotional material for it.

“Instead of the usual trailers and teasers, we wanted to release a calendar that uses pictures of Richa as Shakeela. For 12 months, there will be 12 different looks. Richa was able to bring out the different shades to the role in the calendar too,” says Indrajit, adding, “Both Richa and I picked the flavours and colours for each month. We also worked on the titles and captions.”

Currently in the post-production stage, this is the first Hindi film in decades to be helmed by a Kannada director. Also starring Ester Noronha and Rajiv Pillai, Shakeela has music by Meet Bros and Veer Samarth.
