Sudeep in talks for Venkat Prabhu-Simbu's Maanadu

The project has been delayed due to a variety of reasons that almost forced the makers to consider changing the hero

It looks like the makers of Simbu's Maanadu have approached actor Sudeep to play the antagonist in the film. A source close to the team states that they felt Sudeep would be the perfect fit for the character and narrated the script to the actor. Sudeep, however, is yet to give the nod.

Produced by Suresh Kamatchi and directed by Venkat Prabhu, Maanadu is said to be a political action thriller.

The project has been delayed for long and the makers at one point even considered changing the hero. However, the situation was solved amicably after Simbu's mother stepped in and assured the actor's presence during the shooting. Reports suggest that Simbu, who has been hitting the gym to prepare for the role, will begin shooting for the project in January.

Originally, Maanadu was supposed to have Kalyani Priyadarshan playing the female lead and Yuvan Shankar Raja in charge of the music. There is no official word yet on whether there is a change in the cast and crew due to the delay.
