Even as the euphoria around the recent audio launch of Rajinikanth's Darbar is still high, an important update has come from the makers of the actor's next film, Thalaivar 168, with director Siva. National Award-winner Keerthy Suresh has joined the cast of the film, which is being bankrolled by Sun Pictures.

Apart from Keerthy, the only cast member to be officially confirmed for Thalaivar 168 is Soori. Thalaivar 168 will mark the first time both these actors share screen space with Rajinikanth.

It has been speculated that Rajinikanth's former co-stars Meena and Khushbu might be part of the project, which has music by D Imman. Thalaivar 168 marks the first time Imman is composing for Rajinikanth, and it is his second project with Siva after the Ajith-starrer Viswasam.

Incidentally, Keerthy's mother, Menaka, has shared screen space with Rajinikanth in the 1981 classic Netrikann, directed by SP Muthuraman.

Expressing her happiness over being part of the project, Keerthy said:

Apart from this film, Keerthy will also be seen in the Karthik Subburaj production, Penguin, Nagesh Kukunoor's Telugu film, Sakhi, and the Hindi film, Maidaan.
