Debutant Akshay Ajith's Kerala Express, starring newcomer Ishaan Dev as the lead, went on floors in Kochi. Apart from directing, Akshay also acts in the film, which has Manpreet as the female lead. 

Said to be a tale of love and friendships, Kerala Express, revolves around a coffee shop of the same name where the principal characters meet. The film, reportedly filled with 'elements of suspense', is also expected to feature established actors in Malayalam cinema such as Siddique and Riyas Khan, along with several newcomers in the supporting cast.

While Sourav Unnikrishnan has written the screenplay and dialogues, Arun P has handled the cinematography. Shamsudheen is bankrolling the film under the banner of Aadhidev Cinemas.
