At an event held to felicitate Lyca Productions chief Subaskaran, who was recently awarded a doctorate by a Malaysian university, directors Mani Ratnam and AR Murugadoss expressed interest to make a film on Subaskaran’s journey.

Speaking at the event, Mani Ratnam, after congratulating Subaskaran for the award, said, “The first time I met Subaskaran, I was very curious as to how this journey started. It is a very interesting story, which I will not share here because a film can be made of it.”

Subaskaran, who collaborated with Mani Ratnam for his previous directorial, Chekka Chivantha Vaanam, will be teaming up once again for the veteran filmmaker's upcoming adaptation of Ponniyin Selvan.

Murugadoss, who has collaborated with Lyca Productions on Kaththi, Spyder, and his upcoming Rajinikanth-starrer Darbar, also expressed a similar wish. “Mani sir can make part one and I can direct the sequel, because his story can’t be said in just one film,” said the director, who added that Subaskaran’s journey from nothing to a successful entrepreneur was extremely inspiring.
