Director VZ Dhorai, who is awaiting the release of Iruttu, has announced his next film starring filmmaker-turned-actor Ameer in the lead. Titled Narkaali, the first look poster of the film was revealed today.

The poster, which features Ameer addressing a huge crowd, wearing over-sized rings on all his fingers in a nod to contemporary politicians, confirms that the film is a political thriller. Narkaali, produced by Adham Bava's Moon Pictures, has dialogues by Ajayan Bala and cinematography by E Krishnasamy.

It may be recalled that Rajinikanth-AR Murugadoss' Darbar was earlier rumoured to be titled Narkaali

Ameer was last seen playing a prominent role in Vetri Maaran's Vada Chennai. It is also speculated that a spin-off named Rajan Vagaiyara, based on the origins of his character in that film, might hit an OTT platform in the future.
