Anjana Jayaprakash to star in Gautham Menon's Queen

Actor Anjana Jayaprakash, who was last seen in the 2016 Tamil thriller Dhuruvangal Padhinaaru, is starring in Gautham Menon's upcoming web series, Queen. A fictional retelling of the life and times of the late former Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu, J Jayalalithaa, Queen stars Ramya Krishnan in the titular role and is co-directed by Kidaari director Prasath Murugesan.

The series, which traces the actor-turned-politician's life from her childhood. While Anikha is playing the younger version, Anjana is set to play the teenage version. Indrajith Sukumaran essays a character, which is inspired by another former actor-turned-Chief Minister, MG Ramachandran.

Queen, which will stream on MX Player, will be available in Tamil, Telugu, Hindi, and Bengali, and the trailer of the series will be released on Thursday.

Incidentally, apart from this project, there are two other feature films that are based on the life and times of Jayalalithaa. While Madrasapattinam director Vijay's film, titled Thalaivi, starring Kangana Ranaut and Arvind Swami, went on floors recently, debutante director Priyadhaarshini's The Iron Lady, starring Nithya Menen is also under production
