Tamil remake of Andhadhun to star Prashanth in the lead

The film will be bankrolled by his father actor Thiagarajan

The Tamil remake of 2018 Bollywood hit film Andhadhun directed by Sriram Raghavan, was earlier speculated to star either Dhanush or Siddharth in the lead, as both the actors expressed interest in playing the role. While the former tweeted about it, the latter disclosed in a press interaction that he is actively trying to get the remake rights. Surprisingly, the rights of the film has been finally acquired by actor-director Thiagarajan and the Tamil version will have Prashanth reprising  Ayushmann Khurrana's role in the original.

It may be recalled that Thiagarajan earlier bankrolled Johnny, the Tamil remake of Sriram Raghavan's 2007 film Johnny Gaddar, with Prashanth in the lead last year, and it faced an underwhelming reception from the audience and the critics. Thiagarajan is yet to announce whether he himself will direct the project or rope in a new director to helm the project. An official announcement about the rest of the cast and crew is expected soon.

Andhadhun also starring Tabu and Radhika Apte won three National Awards recently.

Prashanth is currently shooting for an untitled action thriller directed by A Venkatesh, along with Miss India World Anukeerthy VAS, Yogi Babu, Robo Shankar and Bhumika Chawla.
