Uri - The Surgical Strike bags four National Film Awards; Vicky Kaushal reacts on best actor win

The 2019 military action-drama, Uri - The Surgical Strike -  the directorial debut of Aditya Dhar who also wrote the film - has won 4 National Film Awards, which was announced today.

While Vicky Kaushal, who played the lead as Major Vihaan Singh Shergill in the film, has shared the best actor honour with Ayushmann Khurrana (for Andhadhun) at the National awards, Aditya Dhar has won the best director award.

Vicky Kaushal, reacting to the win, said that he feels short of words to describe the happiness he's feeling for the honour. "For my work to be recognized by the National Film Awards Jury is truly a moving moment for me and my family. I wish to thank each and every member of the jury committee for finding me worthy of the prestigious Best Actor Award for my work in the film," the statement read.

Vicky also said that he felt very happy to be sharing the award with someone whom he admires, both as a person and as an actor. Ayushmann. He further dedicated the award to his parents, the members of Team Uri, our nation and to "the armed forces who put their lives on the line each day, come rain or storm."

In addition to the best actor and best director, Uri - The Surgical Strike also won awards for best sound design (Bishwadeep Chatterjee) and best background score (Shashwat Sachdev).
