Arvind Swami to play MGR in Kangana Ranaut's Jayalalithaa biopic, Thalaivi?

We had earlier reported that director Vijay is making a Jayalalithaa biopic titled Thalaivi, with Kangana Ranaut. New speculations state that Arvind Swami is likely to play the role of politician-actor MG Ramachandran in the biopic.

Interestingly, Arvind Swami was supposed to play the role which was inspired by political leader Karunanidhi, and eventually essayed by Prakash Raj, in Iruvar. He even recorded two tracks for the film before opting out due to other commitments. 

Thalaivi, which is co-written by KV Vijayendra Prasad and Rajat Arora, is set to go on floors in the first week of October. Kangana has reportedly been learning Tamil and classical dance for her role. 

The trilingual, which will be shot in Hindi, Telugu and Tamil, is slated to hit the screens next year May. An official announcement about the rest of the cast is expected in the next few days. The Vibri Media production venture has music by GV Prakash and cinematography by Nirav Shah. 

Arvind Swami, meanwhile, has films like PulanaivuKallapartSathuranga Vettai 2, Vanangamudi, and Naragasooran in various stages of development.
