Thalaivi, Kangana Ranaut’s Jayalalithaa biopic to go on floors in October

Directed by Vijay, the shoot will begin in Mysuru and continue in Chennai

Kangana Ranaut’s Thalaivi, a biopic on late Tamil Nadu Chief Minister J Jayalalithaa, will go on floors in the first week of October. Directed by Vijay, the shoot will begin in Mysuru and continue in Chennai. The bilingual drama is co-written by KV Vijayendra Prasad and Rajat Arora. 

Revealing details about the project, producer Shaailesh R Singh said, “The film has entered pre-production. Most of the technicians are on board. Kangana has gone back to Manali to begin her prep. She’s learning everything from Tamil diction to classical dance. We are set to roll from the first week of October.”

With a bunch of Tamil and Hindi actors reportedly on board, Thalaivi will also feature Hindi and Tamil actors. An international technician is being roped in for Kangana’s prosthetics. The film is expected to release in 2020.
