Michelle Yeoh joins Avatar sequels

Michelle Yeoh is the latest to join James Cameron's Avatar sequels. The ace director took to social media to announce the news.

Last seen in the romantic comedy Crazy Rich Asians, the Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon actor will play a scientist named Karina Mogue in the Avatar franchise.

Yeoh is also in talks to lead a Star Trek: Discovery spinoff, where she will reprise her role as Captain Philippa Georgiou from the original series.

Cameron's Avatar, starring Sam Worthington and Zoe Saldana, was released in 2009, and is the highest grossing film of all time, with earnings to the tune of $2.7 billion globally. The first of its four sequels is scheduled to be released on December 18, 2020.
