Ritesh Batra’s coming-of-age romance, Photograph, starring Nawazuddin Siddiqui and Sanya Malhotra, will be screened at the 19th New York Indian Film Festival (NYIFF). Released in India on March 15, the film follows the story of a street photographer in Mumbai who seeks out the help of a college girl after his grandmother pressures him to get married.

The latest edition of NYIFF will be held from May 7-12 at the Village East Cinemas in Manhattan, New York. Rohena Gira’s critically-acclaimed film Sir will open the festival. Celebrity chef Vikas Khanna’s The Last Color — based on the 2012 Supreme Court verdict allowing widows to play Holi in Vrindavan — has been announced as the closing film.

“We are proud to share a wonderful collection of new films from India,” festival director Aseem Chhabra said. “This selection of exceptional titles showcases the beauty, power and glory of film storytelling at its best. Our audience will be excited by the protagonists and fall in love with their journeys."
