PS Mithran's Irumbuthirai, starring Vishal and Samantha, ended up becoming one of the biggest hits of last year, and now, speculations are rife that the Ayogya actor, who also produced the film, will bankroll and star in Irumbuthirai 2. 

However, Mithran, who debuted with the original film, and is currently busy with his next starring Sivakarthikeyan, will not be directing the sequel. Instead, it is said that it will be helmed by newcomer Anand, who has previously assisted director Ezhil. 

Though not a direct sequel, Irumbuthirai 2 will apparently have the flavour of the original film, which also starred Delhi Ganesh and Arjun. A formal announcement is expected soon from the makers with the cast and crew details, as well as when the film will go on floors. 

Vishal is currently busy shooting in Turkey for the untitled Sundar C directorial, which also stars Tamannaah and Aishwarya Lekshmi. He will next be seen in Ayogya, which is scheduled for release next month.
