The release date of Vivek Oberoi-starrer PM Narendra Modi has been postponed from April 5, producer Sandip Ssingh confirmed in a statement. "This is to confirm, our film PM Narendra Modi is not releasing on April 5. Will update soon,” he said.

A biopic on incumbent Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the film was earlier accused of violating the Election Commission’s model code of conduct. On Monday, the Bombay and Delhi High Courts disposed of similar PILs seeking a stay on the film's release ahead of the general elections, and asked the EC and the CBFC to decide on the film’s fate. The EC on Wednesday reportedly asked the CBFC to take the final call.

However, since the makers were unable to obtain the censor certificate in time for the release, with several multiplexes allegedly pulling shows from the box-office, the film's release has been shifted to a later date. In the meantime, the Supreme Court has agreed to hear a fresh petition seeking a stay on the film on April 8.

Directed by Omung Kumar, PM Narendra Modi charts the rise of its protagonist from his early years in Gujarat to winning the 2014 general elections. The film is co-produced by Sandip Ssingh, Anand Pandit and Suresh Oberoi.
