Director Bala is reportedly in talks with Suriya for an upcoming film. If the project materialises, it will mark the duo’s reunion 16 years after Pithamagan.

Suriya, who is currently shooting for KV Anand's Kaapaan, was reportedly approached by the filmmaker for a potential collaboration after the latter was unceremoniously ousted from Dhruv's Varma. The actor and director first worked together on Nanda, which turned out to be a turning point in the former’s career.

Suriya, who has projects with Sudha Kongara (Suriya 38) and director Hari (Suriya 39) in the pipeline, is said to have given the initial nod to Bala, but he is yet to sign on the dotted line.

Bala was in the news earlier this year when the producers of his film Varmaa, the Tamil remake of the Telugu hit Arjun Reddy, decided to shelve Bala's version and reshoot the film with a different director. The film, originally scheduled for release in February, was retitled Aditya Varma, and postponed to June.

Meanwhile, Suriya is awaiting the release of Selvaraghavan’s political thriller, NGK on May 31.
