The global rights of Steven Soderbergh's next film, High Flying Bird, have been bought by Netflix. Starring Andre Holland, Zazie Beetz and Zachary Quinto, the film is a sports drama and marks the first collaboration of the Ocean's series director with the streaming giant.

Talking about the deal, Soderbergh said, "We had several strong options for distributing High Flying Bird, but to borrow the patois of the film itself, this deal felt like a 'slam dunk', and the perfect way for me to begin my relationship with Netflix as a director.”

Written by Academy Award-winner Tarell Alvin McCraney (Moonlight), the film is produced by Joseph Malloch and is expected to get released next year on Netflix.
