The makers of the much-awaited biopic on astronaut Rakesh Sharma starring Shah Rukh Khan — erstwhile titled Salute — have finally zeroed in on a new title. Directed by Mahesh Mathai, the space drama will be called Saare Jahaan Se Achcha. The film is jointly produced by Roy Kapur Films and RSVP.

Cinematographer-turned-director Mahesh Mathai rose to fame with his 1999 film Bhopal Express starring Kay Kay Menon and Nethra Raghuraman. The screenplay of Saare Jahaan Se Achcha is penned by Anjum Rajabali, who has written films like Ghulam, The Legend of Bhagat Singh, and Rajneeti.

The final cast of Saare Jahaan Se Achcha will be announced in the coming months and the film will go on floors in February.

“I’m genre-agnostic and scale-agnostic. Instinctively, I react more to drama--human drama, family drama, and love stories--than to say, something like horror, but I’m open to all kinds of films,” Siddharth Roy Kapur said while announcing his upcoming projects, which also includes Shonali Bose’s The Sky Is Pink, Vinil Mathew’s Sindbad, and Sooni Taraporevala’s Ballet Boys

Shah Rukh Khan is presently gearing up for his upcoming release, Zero, which hits theatres on December 21. Directed by Aanand L Rai, the film also stars Anushka Sharma and Katrina Kaif.
