Rumours have been afloat about Abhishek Bachchan starring in Anurag Basu’s upcoming sequel to Life In A… Metro. On Friday, Abhishek shared a picture of Basu on Instagram and wrote, “On the auspicious day of Dussehra we embark on a new journey. I hope Anurag is still smiling after I give my first shot and the day is done too.”

Although both the actor and the director are yet to make an official announcement, we hear that Basu had been planning a sequel to Life In A… Metro for quite some time and has reportedly signed Saif Ali Khan, Rajkummar Rao and Parineeti Chopra alongside Abhishek as part of his new ensemble cast. Kareena Kapoor Khan is also rumoured to be a part of the project.

Released in 2007, Life In A… Metro was a romantic musical drama combining six stories of love, marriage and extramarital affairs in an urban metropolis. The music of the film, which became a major success, was composed by Pritam.

Abhishek Bachchan recently ended his two-year-long acting hiatus by starring in Anurag Kashyap’s Manmarziyaan. Besides the Life In A… Metro sequel, the actor will be seen in Gulal Jamun opposite Aishwarya Rai Bachchan and Housefull 4.
