'Genius will pose a lot of questions to parents and the education system'

Director Suseenthiran has a slew of films in the pipeline, and the first to be released is Genius, which is set to hit the screens on October 26. Featuring newcomers Roshan and Priyaa Lal in the lead roles, this Suseenthiran film is a commentary on the present education system and over-burdened kids.

Talking about the film in a press meet, the director says, "Kids these days are subject to a lot of pressure from both the school and family. It is actually sad that the present generation of kids are even aware of words like stress and mind blocks." He adds, "This film is an attempt to make teachers and parents realise the futility of overburdening children and pushing them to join a rat race that no one actually wins."

Genius is the story of Roshan, who plays Dinesh, an IT professional, who was an over-achiever in school and has been constantly under pressure to excel in everything he does. Seasoned artistes Aadukalam Naren and Meera Krishnan play his parents and the film explores how a happy-go-lucky and intelligent school student like Dinesh becomes an adult who is constantly stressed out.

"This film will pose a lot of questions. It will be a different approach from the director compared to his other films like Aadhalaal Kadhal Seiveer, where he let you leave the theatre with a heavy heart. Here, you'll leave with a smile on your face," says Roshan, who is also the producer of the film.
