We had told you earlier that Dhanush and Vetrimaaran will be joining hands for a new film apart from the Vada Chennai franchise, and that the film will go on floors next week. The filmmaker has revealed in a recent interview that this upcoming film will be based on the Tamil novel, Vekkai

The novel, written by Poomani, is a revenge drama that traces the fight of an oppressed community against those oppressing them. The cast and crew of the untitled film are yet to be announced by the makers.

The director-actor duo, who have completed 40 per cent of Vada Chennai 2, will resume shooting for the sequel once they complete this film. They also have Vada Chennai 3, which will go on floors in 2020, in the pipeline.

Vada Chennai, co-starring Ameer, Aishwarya Rajesh and Andrea Jeremiah, hits the screens on Wednesday.
