Actor-turned-politician Kamal Haasan has confirmed speculations about his next film being the sequel to Thevar Magan. Talking at a media interaction on Saturday, the three-time National Award winner announced this news, much to the surprise of his fans.

Apart from Kamal, the original Thevar Magan, released in 1992, also starred thespian Sivaji Ganesan, Revathy, Gauthami and Nasser in important roles. The film, which amassed five National Awards, was directed by Bharathan and had music by Ilaiyaraaja.

Kamal Haasan, last seen in his own directorial Vishwaroopam 2, is also part of Shankar's Indian 2, sequel to their 1996 blockbuster. Though there is no confirmed news about the cast and crew of the Thevar Magan sequel, it seems likely that both his forthcoming films will be used as tools to propagate his political ideologies.
