Akshay Kumar, who is making his Tamil debut with Shankar’s 2.0, is now rumoured to be part of the director’s next, Indian 2 as well. Earlier, reports suggested that Ajay Devgn was playing the antagonist in the film headlined by Kamal Haasan. But now, it looks like Akshay will be replacing Ajay in the project. If Akshay comes on board, the Bollywood actor will be part of back-to-back projects with Kollywood’s biggest stars, Rajinikanth and Kamal Haasan. An official confirmation is awaited.

Bankrolled by Lyca Productions, Indian 2 is the sequel to the 1996 blockbuster that won Kamal a National Award. The pre-production for the sequel has begun, starting with set work. The film is expected to go on floors in December. It is speculated that Nayanthara will play the female lead, while Anirudh Ravichander will be in charge of music.
