The first part of Ayan Mukherji's upcoming fantasy adventure trilogy, Brahmastra, was originally scheduled to hit the screens on August 15, 2019. However, the release has now been pushed to December 20, 2019. This was announced on social media by Karan Johar, who is producing the film. The filmmaker tweeted a poster which read: "Brahmastra now releasing on Christmas 2019."

This film will mark the first time that Amitabh Bachchan will be seen sharing screen space with both Ranbir Kapoor and Alia Bhatt. Also starring Akkineni Nagarjuna and Mouni Roy, the shooting of the Israel portions of the Dharma Movies production has been wrapped up. This will be Ayan's third film after Wake Up Sid (2009) and Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani (2013), both of which featured Ranbir in the lead.

Amitabh, whose Thugs of Hindostan was released recently, currently has Sye Raa Narasimha Reddy and Badla in his kitty. Alia, on the other hand, is awaiting the release of Gully Boy.
