The shooting of Ajith's Viswasam, which began in May 2018, has been wrapped up and the film is on track for a Pongal 2019 release.

The film's production house, Sathya Jyothi Films, announced this on its official Twitter page.

Recently, there was much speculation that the producers of Viswasam might reconsider the release date following reports that Rajinikanth’s Petta might get released around the same time. However, Viswasam's cinematographer, Vetri, went on to confirm the film's release date, setting up the stage for a possible Rajinikanth-Ajith clash at the box office, this Pongal.

Ajith Kumar, last seen as an Interpol agent in Vivegam, will be seen in rural avatar in Viswasam, which marks his fourth-time collaboration with director Siva. The film is said to feature Ajith in dual roles: in his now-famous salt-and-pepper look, and another with his hair coloured black. Amid rumors that Ajith plays a double role in the film, sources close to the team have refused, clarifying that he merely appears in two different looks.

According to reliable sources, the film’s female lead, Nayanthara, plays a doctor in the film. Also starring Vivek, Kovai Sarala, Yogi Babu, Thambi Ramaiah, and Robo Shankar, Viswasam has music by D Imman.
