Ray actor Jamie Foxx is all set to star in the latest reboot of Spawn. The film will be written, directed and co-produced by the comic's original creator, Todd McFarlane.

The anti-hero character first made his appearance in 1992, and was well received by comic book fans. The first film adaptation of the character came in 1997, starring Michael Jai White. Following that, Spawn was made into a three-season animated series, which went on to win two Emmy Awards. 

According to the comics, Spawn is a CIA operative-turned-Hellspawn who receives a second chance to live on earth as a Hellspawn warrior. He posses superhuman strength, speed, and the ability to teleport, shapeshift and heal.

The role will mark Jamie Foxx's return to playing comic book characters. The actor has previously played supervillain Electro in The Amazing Spider-Man 2, which starred Andrew Garfield in the titular role. 

Jamie will be next seen playing the character of Little John in the upcoming film Robin Hood: Origins.
