The representatives of South Indian Artistes' Association (SIAA) met the press today evening to announce their support for the ongoing protests for the shutdown of the Sterlite factory and formation of Cauvery Management Board (CMB), in addition to their stand in the month-long industry strike.  

During their interaction with the press, Vice President Ponvannan said, "We find the requests of the Producer's Council to be highly valid, and we completely support their protest for the welfare of Tamil cinema. At the same time, we feel guilty to be protesting for our own needs at a time when people all over Tamil Nadu are fighting two very important issues - shut down of Sterlite factory and formation of CMB. We are planning to conduct a rally or hunger strike next week to support these two noble causes and pressurise the government to hear their plea. We will announce the place and date of our protest soon."

President Nasser, Treasurer Karthi, and members like Prem, AL Udhaya, and Kutty Padmini were also part of the press meet.
