Vikram Vedha-fame Sam CS will be making his Malayalam debut with Mohanlal's fantasy period film, Odiyan. The latest buzz is that the composer has used a six-foot-long bamboo instrument for the background score of the film.

The Puriyatha Puthir composer got on board to score the background music, with the songs being composed by Ennu Ninte Moideen-fame M Jayachandran. Talking about the prominence of background music in the film, he said in a statement, “It’s a thriller set against the backdrop of a particular time-period. This gave me an instant idea to utilise the ancient ethnic musical instruments of Kerala.”

Asked about the uniqueness of the instruments in the film, he said, "The bamboo instrument is played to cast a spell on the audience, and we were able to find only one old lady, who knows how to play it. Somehow we roped her in.”

Apart from Odiyan, Sam has projects like Karu, Gorilla, Adanga Maru, Mr Chandramouli, and Vanjagar Ulagam in the pipeline.
