Re-release galore in Tamil Nadu

Several Tamil films will be re-released today to compensate for the lack of new releases due to the TFPC strike

Express Features

Owing to the ongoing strike by the Tamil Film Producers Council (TFPC), there will be no new Tamil film releases this week as well. The Tamil film industry went on an indefinite strike with no new Tamil films getting a theatrical release from March 1. The strike has reached a very serious stage now and there will be no shooting, no post-production work, no film launches, no press meets and no new releases from today, March 16.

Since the strike is only organised by the Tamil film industry representatives, Hindi and English films will be released in the state as scheduled. The theatre owners and distributors have also decided to re-release yesteryear hits to manage the economic loss incurred due to the strike.

Surprisingly, classic films of the MGR and Sivaji Ganesan like Rajapart Rangadurai and Ninaithathai Mudippavan will be re-releasing today alongside more recent hits like Theri, Mersal, Veeram, Baahubali The Beginning, Vikram Vedha, and Thani Oruvan. Other films that will be hitting the screens today include Aranmanai 2, Billa,  Dangal, Motta Shiva Ketta Shiva, and Pichaikkaaran.
