The release of director Mohanan Kupleri's Chandragiri has been stalled after the film's producer levelled a complaint against the makers of the recently released Chanakyathanthram, starring Unni Mukundan. Around seven shots from Chandragiri's climax showed up in the DVDs of Chanakyathanthram. It should be noted that this was not the case with the theatre prints of Chanakyathanthram but only in the DVDs. Chandragiri was supposed to be released today.

When Cinema Express reached out to Chanakyathanthram director Kannan Thamarakulam, he said, "All this happened as a result of a technical error at Chitranjali Studios. This is such an odd situation that never happened before in the history of cinema. We had given the high definition footage to Chitranjali Studios to make some final corrections. There were no issues in the theatre prints. But when the DVDs came out, we discovered visuals from another film with audio from our film. These visuals had no connection whatsoever to the characters in our film. At some point they must have interchanged the hard disks. After the corrections, it was sent to be converted to DVDs and that's how these shots ended up in it."

Chandragiri deals with a relevant social issue and stars some of the prominent actors from Malayalam such as Lal, Joy Matthew, Kochu Preman, Hareesh Peradi and Sunil Sugatha in important roles. Kammattipadam-fame Shaun Romy plays the female lead, while Shaji Kumar of Pulimurugan fame is the cinematographer. The film is about the bond between a school headmaster (played by Lal) and his daughter, as well as his lifelong feud with a corrupt local businessman (Hareesh Peradi).
