Director Raju Murugan of Joker fame, who is currently busy with Jiiva's Gypsy has written the script for Studio Green's next venture titled Mehandi Circus. Directed by Saravana Rajendhiran, the film stars Rangaraj as the lead. Masaan fame Shweta Tripathi will be making her Tamil debut with this film. Talking to CE about the film, Saravana says, "It's a love story set in Kodaikanal. The film's about a girl from a nomadic circus troupe and a boy who runs a cassette-recording shop." The director feels that because of the hard-hitting Joker, people don't associate Raju Murugan with a romantic film. "His first film Cuckoo was a romance. Mehandi Circus will have its light moments with humour as well as a serious phase. The film will take a serious turn after the leads get into a relationship," adds Saravana.

The film's shooting was wrapped up recently and was shot throughout India in locations such as Kodaikannal, Chinnalapatti in Dindigul district, Mumbai, Bhor in Maharashtra and Badami in Karnataka. The film also stars Ankur Vikal of Slumdog Millionaire fame and Sunny Charles, known for his films such as Dhobi Ghat and Hisss alongside actors such as  RJ Vignesh, Vela Ramamoorthy, and Marimuthu. Sean Roldan is the composer for this film. The team apparently brought in real circus troupe performers to be part of this film.
