Cochin Film Society to screen films from MIFF

A handpicked selection of some of the best award-winning documentaries, short films and animation films that were showcased at the 15th Mumbai International Film Festival will be screened at Children’s Park Theatre, Kochi on June 23 and June 24. The festival is organised by the Cochin Film Society in association with the Films Division, Government of India.

The Chairman of the Greater Cochin Development Authority (GCDA), CN Mohanan will formally inaugurate the festival on June 23 at 5 pm. On the occasion, the Vice-President of the Federation of Film Societies of India - Kerala Region, Chelavur Venu will deliver the K.R. Mohanan Memorial Lecture.  

On June 23, the screenings will start at 3.00 pm with My Secret Forest, followed by Insta Stories and Beloved Films Division at 4 and 4.30 pm, respectively.

After the inaugural meeting, the screening of animation film The Basket (Tokri), directed by two-time National award winner and a native of Tripunithra, Suresh Eriyatt will be held. It is followed by the screening of Santhal Family To Mill Re-call directed by RV Ramani, at 6 pm.

On June 24 Sunday, starting from 9.30 am, ten films will be screened, including My Turn, The Grandfather (Aaba), I am Bonnie, I Am Jeeja and The Cinema Travellers. In the afternoon session, four award winning Indian films will be screened -- Naachi Se Baanchi, Sakhisona, Whitering House and Ima Sabitri.

The festival will conclude with the screening of the Golden Conch winning Austrian documentary Brother Jakob, Are You Sleeping? at 5.30 pm.
