Radhika Pandit-Nirup Bhandari film gets into last leg of shooting

A Sharadhaa

Fans of Radhika Pandit, who are eagerly waiting to see her back on the silverscreen, will be thrilled to know that her upcoming film is nearing completion. The yet-to-be-titled project, made under Rockline Productions, went on the floors in 2017 and is finally in the last leg of shooting, starting today in Bengaluru. The film, which is Radhika’s first post marriage, marks V Priya’s Kannada debut as a director, and stars Nirup Bhandari opposite the Mr and Mrs Ramachari heroine. “Nirup Bandhari will be joining the sets from today, while Radhika will join us next week,” says Priya.

About the film’s long gap between shooting schedules, Priya says it was a planned move. “The team and I have been organised in how we want to go about the shoot. The gap was unavoidable. When I had completed shooting eighty per cent of the film, I took it to the edit desk to get clarity on how much more was left to be shot. Now I’m done with that, and have a clear idea as to what scenes are left. We will then get to the song sequences, which will also take place in the city, apart from one track for which we might go elsewhere,” she tells us.

Priya has assisted director Mani Ratnam, and has directed three Tamil films. Her Kannada debut is a family entertainer. “It’s been a great journey for me,” says Priya, adding, “The beauty of this film is that it’s been all about teamwork. Everyone collaborated to bring out a good film, and that includes producers, actors and technicians. I want to especially mention the film’s cinematographer Preetha (Jayaram), with whom I was able to share my vision. So far, the whole process has been a beautiful experience.”

The director, who is currently getting all the artistes down to the dubbing studio, is excited about the film’s music, which has been composed by Anup Bhandari. “This is going to be a different kind of album, Anup has added a youthful flavour to the tunes. We recently had singer Vijay Prakash lending his voice for a track, and I was so excited to hear him sing,” she says.

Priya adds that she will reveal more about the story and characters when the first look of the film is released.
